Taste of Beaufort

tob2The weekend before last was the Taste of Beaufort. The event is held in the downtown park and local restaurants and catering companies gather together to offer a sampling off their menu. It’s similar to the fair in that you buy a certain number of tickets and then redeem them at the different booths. We were a little disappointed that a couple of the restaurants we were hoping to try out didn’t participate in the event.  It was great, though – delicious food, live music, and lots of fun!

This was a crab cake sandwich from Barbara Jean’s. Look delicious? It was. They’re famous for their crab cakes. Brad and Ezra sure chowed down on this bad boy. It went quick! We also enjoyed a BBQ sandwich, pizza, and ice cream. YUM!

Ezra was the star of the show! So many people stopped to see him and say hi. One girl even asked to take a picture of him!

As you can see from the food all over his face, he really enjoyed the day. We all did. Can’t wait until next year!

Sun Sand Surf

We zipped down to Miami over the weekend. It was a much needed get away, but way too short. If you’ve never been, go! The beaches are phenomenal, the architecture is amazing, the weather is almost always gorgeous, and the shopping is fantastic. Too bad we could only stay the weekend!

Day of Service

On Saturday, hundreds of thousands of church members from coast to coast participated in a day of service. Volunteers stocked shelves, constructed houses, cleaned up parks & picked up trash, raised money for charity, helped families in need, and everything in between. Our congregation here in Beaufort helped organize a CAPA (Child Abuse Prevention Association) event called the CAPA Angel Walk. Volunteers raised money donated by sponsors for a 3 mile walk around downtown Beaufort. The Angel Walk was followed by refreshments and entertainment in the park – dancers, singers, a puppet show, a kazoo concert, and an angel parade. Lots of fun! I was asked to photograph the event. Here are a few pictures from the day.

And… scene!

At Ezra’s one year check up our pediatrician informed us that the terrible two’s were a misnomer. The notorious tantrums appear as early as one year and the year between one and two is often the hardest. “Oh no,” I thought, “not my sweet little Ezra…

Oh boy was I ever wrong!! Other than the ear splitting, glass shattering screams, his tantrums are kinda cute. He deserves an Oscar for the level of drama that ensues when he can’t have what he wants. It’s really hard to keep a straight face when he’s pouting. He scrunches up his little nose and pushes those lips out as far as they’ll go. It’s so dang cute!! I’m determined to get a good picture of it while he’s still in this phase. Until then, here’s the best picture I have. (He was smiling two seconds later.)
