Despite my lack of posting regarding the process, we finished moving everything in from storage back when my mom and brother visited. I can’t tell you enough how nice it is to have everything out of storage! Some of the things we unpacked I hadn’t seen since boxing them up when we sold our house out west almost 6 years ago!
This little warning sign at the storage unit always made me laugh:
I wish you could see how slowly the gate actually moves. It reminds me of this scene from Austin Powers:
I should probably clarify that this house is a rental. When we returned from our trip back in November we started looking for a house to rent down here on the island. It’s almost an hour drive to our lot from downtown Beaufort so we wanted to avoid having to spend so much time commuting to Hilton Head and back to work on the house every day. Plus, we were eager to go ahead and get settled in the new ward. It took three months of contacting every rental company on the island, perusing the newspaper ads, and clicking refresh on craigslist every half hour, but our determination finally paid off. We snagged this house within a few minutes of it being listed on craigslist AND it was listed for $300 less than every similar house we’d seen! Yay for saving money!!
Here is the front:
It’s a typical older island house. Maybe built-in the 80’s or something. Nothing too exciting. Here’s a picture of the neighborhood:
There are maybe 10 houses total in our little subdivision of the plantation. Nice and quiet. The house backs up to a private golf course so we have really pretty views out the back. (You can see some the back yard in the Easter post.) The steady stream of golfers throughout the day makes Brad jealous. He loves to golf, but hasn’t been in ages.
In other news, Ezra got a new tricycle. The tires on the old one were so worn that the front wheel collapsed in on itself. Not much of a hand-me-down, but Memphis is enjoying it. It’s sure to be heading to the recycling center soon enough.
He loves ringing the bell when other bikes pass by on the trails. He’s so cute.
That’s a really pretty rental house. I like it a lot. Happy for you to have your stuff finally.
I’m making particular use of all my kitchen stuff – it’s wonderful! It does look a little funny though that we have two kids and all the pictures around the house are of Brad and myself when we were newlyweds. 🙂
Looks great! It is amazing to see the boys passing each other on the trail! Where did the babies go? Do you have plans to come this way or is it our year to come your way?
I guess that depends on if my brother meets a girl and gets married this summer. 🙂 We’ll keep you posted!
